A winter-plumaged Baltimore Oriole, one of a few that seem to manage to stick around these parts in Winter. Sitting on a fence near a feeder.

D7000, 300 f/4 AF-S +1.7TC. Hand-held, 1/2500, f/9.0, ISO1600.

Adjusted and cropped in LR and PS Elements.

Thanks for looking, and comments.

I like the look back pose and the topside view. wish it had a natural perch. the bird is quite noisy.

Nice finding, richard. I like the looking back pose and the colours. Noise is visible as noted earlier.

Great shot! Ideally, it would be nice on a natural perch. The noise is apparent, and I don't mind on some parts of the bird.

Hi all,

Thqnks for the comments. I'm using a 17in. Macbook Pro, and maybe my monitor isn't good enough, but what I interpret as feather detail, some of you are interpreting as noise. Could you please explain how you tell the difference, and is there a really good way to tell where to draw the line between the two? I'm not being argumentative, I just want to learn how to improve my images!

Thanks,

Richard
