I Just picked up my new camera last night (Pentax K-30) and was itching to try it out at the first available time.
So up early this morning to check out a like swamp area close to home. I'm over the moon with the IQ over my older Pentax K-200D.

This is a full frame shot, all comments most welcome.

Name:Dusky moorhens (Gallinula tenebrosa)
Location:Bendigo, VIC 22/01/2013)
Gear: Pentax K-30 and Sigma 150-500mm @ F6.3 1/800 ISO800, 500mm Hand Held
PP:ACR/CS5, shadows,Levels, sharpen, FF.

PS-Admin can you tell me why I dont get a small image on the forum board.

Hi Charlie,
Nice vibrant colors in sweet light and good details. A slight head turn towards the viewer would be ideal.

The thumbnail is only generated for images uploaded to BPN server directly, in order to access the file server you have to become a BPN member (which has many more benefits as well)

Congrats on the new camera Charlie, gotta love new toys hehehehe. Yep IQ looks very good, look forward to seeing what else you come across

IQ looks very good indeed. Congrats on new gear. Exposure and details look very good.

I'd have gone with a different composition...one that would cover more bird by pointing the lens a bit down. Either use focus-recompose if bird is static....or use the outer foucs points...which is what I always do when subject is moving.
