An overwintering duck here in the southwest part of Lake Ontario.
Normally they stay on the lake so, getting one in a small body of water with cattails in the BG is a bonus.

Magnificent image of bufflehead. Very nice two tone BG and nice blue water.
Love the pose,HA,nice details in blacks and composition.Whites near eye looks hot to me.

Very nicely done, with excellent shooting angle, colors, BG.

Normally I don't like the horizon cutting through the head, but it is soft enough here that its not as much of an issue for me.

From a comp. standpoint, I would prefer a bit more room in front, with a sliver more on the left as well.

Buffleheads here are almost impossible to get close to, so these nice shoots with relatively short focal length are killing me. I can't get this close with 1120mm!

Lovely picture, with great exposure, nice low angle, good soft bg. At least around here, where they are abundant, they are pretty unapproachable, so I envy you this close up shot.

Perfect image, Tim. Buffleheads are not difficult to find and photograph here, but I have yet to get one as good as you have here.

Awesome shot, Tim. Terrific IQ....one can see that it is not a big crop. And you did with a short lens...pat yourself on the back. I've been trying but never got so close to one here. We see them many times but they are always far out and dont mingle with other ducks that come close to the shore. I am a big fan of super low angle...but I'd have preferred a tiny bit higher angle to get the transition line over the head.

Perfect head position. Tad more space behind will help. IMO.

Hi Tim, lovely soft light, and you certainly created a low shooting angle. The little guy is well exposed, good detail showing, and I do like the colours of the BG. Yes to a touch more space behind, and a bit more on the right.

Awesome image. Sweet details, sweet light quality, and +1 to the low shooting angle.
The tail, which can't be seen here really, would likely be cut off as you have presented the
image...either that or butting right up against the left edge of the frame. I agree with others
that you need more room on the left. Regardless, it's an awesome image!
