Wow. What a day. After and excellent first 1 1/2 days today, SUN 1-20-2103 was a dream day at the Barnegat Jetty. All five folks on the BAA/A Creative Adventure IPT left thrilled. This was one of my very favorite images from the day and the trip.

Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the 1.4X III TC and the EOS-1D X. ISO 800. Evaluative metering -1 stop: 1/2000 sec. at f/9.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

To see what fate befell me on Friday and Saturday, see, "Shooting Blanks; Do As I Say, Not As I Do" here. (http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2013/01/20/shooting-blanks-do-as-i-say-not-as-i-do/)

Great capture Arthur - the water droplets coming off the tail are awesome!

I love these diving duck photos and keep trying to get them at the Point of entry like this.
Very tough to get, it happens as quick as flight.
I like the tail flip!

Artie:

The dive is nice, but as Greg and Dan mentioned, the tail flip is what makes it special.

Cheers

Magnificent moment captured, great timing.
Love the pose, beautiful colors, sharpness, reflection of neck and head colors on wave and above all trailing of water droplets from the tail.

Regards,
Satish.

Like your crop decision here. The tail trail is great as is your dive timing.

Artie - It was a fantastic day and this image is all the more perfect because I know how hard you worked to achieve it. Great timing and the tail makes it for me. Pano works super here too.

TFS and for the fantastic IPT/Creative Adventure,
Rachel

Hi Artie, this is different and I like it lots. Pano suits the diving pose, and overall well exposed and sharp. I like the surrounding choppy water, and even though everyone has mentioned it already - yes that curled water spray from the tail puts this over the top. Well captured.

Amazing shot - I didn't even see the droplets at first! Only once I managed to time the dive properly, and the duck dove right out the frame...
