Out last week looking for spoonbills. Not much action with the pink beauties so I decided to do best with what I had in front of me. These vultures were interacting in a way I never really saw and it was nice to see the usual "ugly" display a little more playful side. Sarasota Fl.

Great comp ...aint love grand ??? A classic shot Cheryl with lots of disgusting detail, but love it...warts and all.

Terrific photo!
I love these guys and to get them with this interaction is really nice.
Nothing to add, nothing I would do different.
Looks like harsh light handled well.
I think this is the case where Arthur Morris told me, "when its bright, go in tight"!

Interesting behavior that I have never seen captured. Perfectly executed ... great poses, exposure, comp, BG, and detail!

So much interest! Well seen, Cheryl. Glad you kept an open mind when things with the spoonbills didn't pan out. I think that is one of the hallmarks of a good nature photographer.

Remember that song..."Muskrat Love"? I'm getting out the guitar tonight and writing the vulture version, inspired of course by this image. Tech wise it's great and thanks for sharing this. We all see 'em but don't often take the time to get a great photo.

Capturing a moment of tender interaction between creatures we might sometimes think of as grotesque--makes them beautiful to me. Which only the best photographers can do. Super job, Cheryl. I could see this going just a touch darker. But otherwise pretty darn perfect.

Thanks everyone . Marina congratulations on your Moderator position . I look forward to your great advice as I always do and I will burn them some more here. I used the shadow hilite tool to bring up some hilites and soften shadows but got a little too much light.

You sure have some ugly birds down there!! Personally I would have smeared a bit of vaseline on the lens to try to improve their looks. :) Good technique with a 2X.....so sharp and good comp.
