We spotted this fellow last spring and his was really lethargic as if he had just emerged that morning. But he was uncharacteristically approachable. So I waded into the water to get the light in my favor and shot away! D3s 300VRII 2.8 + 1.4TC 1/500 @ISO 400 -2/3.

I think this is an outstanding image, the DOF is optimal, I like the angle from which it is taken. I like the long seed head but I think I would crop the bottom say 5cm, this would still put the dragonfly on it's perch and portray the beautiful wings. A great start for the New Year.

Hi Jon. Very nicely done with good sharpness throughout, good exposure and lighting, pleasing colors, and a clean background! If this was mine, I would likely crop a little off the bottom - as others have suggested above - but that is a minor point and subjective - your image also works well, as presented. :cheers:

Outstanding image. Would crop a tad off the bottom. Might bring down the brightness just a tad or burn the head just a little. Over all a terrific image.

Jon...another vote for cropping the bottom just a bit and possibly burning the perch to seperate it more from bg but as is its wonderful!
