Hi all and Happy new Year...!

The Rainbow Lorikeet shown settled on a minature unbrella tree in my backyard and started feeding on the berries and dropping the leftovers in the pool! A practice normally frowned apon but in this case I Loved it...! I quickly stepped in side, assembled my Camera kit and captured this image... I like the colour of these birds although they are not native to Western Australia. The image had some appeal to me and would like to know what you think...

This is beautiful - the colour really pops, and the sharpness is amazing. Well composed also, although I think if his head was angled ever-so-slightly toward you it may have made the image a tad stronger.

I agree about the comment Faraaz made about the HA. But I've got to say that you captured some stunning colors and a nice pose here.

Don, I like the way the bird is leaning, extending its head to the right of the berries, and leaving it positioned against a clean background. The colors are gorgeous. The image is sharp, and the berry in the subject's beak is a real plus. If I look for something that might improve an already-strong image, I would move the camera a bit further to the right, separating the lorikeet from the umbrella tree leaves in the center foreground. But this is simply an observation--not a criticism. It's a wonderful image!

Fabulous capture of this colourful species, Don. I would consider cropping a little from left and top and adding below and right to decentre the lorikeet a little if possible. Love those berries.

wow.. thanks for all the help and nice comments guys... Tony, I will try a recropped version similar to what you suggest. It had occured to me at posting that this may be better but time (visiting grandchildren...) prevented that.

Hi All

This image is the following image from the OP, cropped to Tony's suggestion and with a slightly better HA although less prominent 'berry in beak'. I think it probably addresses most of the suggestions made above which I am very grateful for. I hope I am not breaking the rules posting what is technically a different image, moderators please remove if i am. Thanks again to all.

Beautiful image.
Love all the colors, exposed very well, great perch, and excellent details.
On the second image the slight head and the added room in front really does make a huge difference.
Very well done.
