I'm not sure about this picture.
I was working on the eye. I went too bright then I darkened it back. It might be OK right now or still too bright.
Thanks for looking.

It is a bit bright.
The beak is awesome and detail overall is superb.
Just needs to be toned down a bit for me.

This is a great portrait Karl.
I like the composition and the curve in the neck.
Brightness issue addressed already.
The eye looks fine to me in terms of brightness but I wonder what the pink areas are? Is this normal?
I really like the BG with the wispy grasses and lovely blue.
You were only shooting at an ISO of 320 but there appears to be some noise in the BG,
Gail

Sweet bird! The eye looks a little over worked to me, but I am not really that familiar with this species up close in bright light. Maybe if you darken the whole, the eye will be better?

Love the pose, the BG is nice but I do see some noise in it. Exposure on the bird looks good. The eye looks a little funky to me but since I have never seen one of these guys up close, I will leave that up to the others.

Karl, I love the comp and the bg. Lots of good detail. Nick took the words out of my mouth: funky is how I was about to describe the eye -- maybe a bit overworked.

Excellent portrait.
Exposed very well, excellent details, and I really like the grasses in the background.
Agree on toning down the brightness a tad.
Very well done.
