On tripod, in boat, small crop for comp. Sunny day but a large cloud passed over as I shot this.
I believe the Openbill is fairly young and newly fledged as he does not yet have the gape between his mandibles.
Comments and critiques always learned from and appreciated with thanks,
Gail
PS I don't usually post daily but the forum is so quiet over Christmas ( as it should be!) that I thought I would put something up.

Sweet! Good composition, HA, and BG. My first thought on viewing the thumbnail was this resembled a couple of shots I have of a wood stork (from Corkscrew swamp in SW FL). But of course, the wood stork's head is bare, while this one is feathered, and a bit prettier! :t3 Well done!

Real nice portrait. Clean and simple image of a cool looking bird.

You can post daily, fine with me, the more posts from everyone the better.
Cool looking bird not familiar to me. Very nice BG to go with it.
Maybe just a sliver off the right for perfection for me, but just a personal preference.

Very nice background, great head angle, excellent details, and love the soft light.
Well done.

This bird has an impresive beak. Nice portrait, love the details, background and composition. The eye looks very nice and I like the hint of environment represented by the green in the background.

Super details on the plumage, and I love the bill. The diffusedlight the cloud gave you is very appealing. Neat BG, I would just smooth out the harder line running up from bill tip to top edge.

A very high quality image Gail. The cloud really helped extract the details. I like the composition as well.

Cheers

Originally I looked at it on my laptop. I liked it then I love it now. Nice head turn and the details are truly amazing, Gail.
