Sharp and dramatic. Love the detail in the mouth and those ling whisker feathers. A Surface Blur on the background only would smooth it right up. Try something like : 3/4 for the Surface Blur.

This has to be the one of your best of the species. Patience and persistence around sinhagad and Diveghat (if this is from that area) can really be rewarding.

LOve the details. the iridescence on the head and crest is beautiful you got the perfect angle for that.

Techs look good.

Hi Satish,

Lovely image. Great eye contact and timing here, capturing the bill at it widest gape. I love the wonderful bluey-green of the iridescence feathers on the head and the whiskers around the mouth, the technical details are very good with the subject frozen with good detail on the bird and perch but nicely isolated against a diffuse neutral brown background. I also like the use of a vertical frame and the generous amount of space around the bird resulting in a nicely balnced image.
However in the original image, as presented, I felt that such a good base capture was let down by appearing somewhat muddy (all midtones and few highlights) and a had a slight cyan cast, therefore I have taken the liberty of tweaking the image in Photoshop, I hope you like it.

Seasons greetings,

Julian.

(Adjustments= Levels: highlights and midtones adjusted, Curves: Linear contrast @ 89% opacity, Colour balance: +3 red in midtones, Dodge Layer: lightened the dark feathers around the eye, Saturation: +3, selected perch and brought back some contrast to it. All adjustments done on a colour calibrated monitor using a colour managed workflow)

Thanks Julian. I am not seeing any major diffences--hard to do that while scrolling, but I appreciate that others are willing to do reposts :S3:.
