Hi all. I took this one back in September of this year. Not the best shot as we're viewing the action through her wing, (this was the best angle possible at the time) but it's unusual activity and therefore thought I'd share it with you all.

Shooting info: Canon 60D, tripod & cable release, 100mm F2.8L macro lens @ F5, SS 1/80, ISO 250. Cropped and minor PP work.

C&C welcomed. Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays to you all. :S3:

Dave, beautiful done!
On seeing it closer, a part of the tail appears a bit OOF. But it does not take away the beauty of the shot.

I know, F5, what was I thinking!?!?

Thanks for commenting Prabir and Jason, much appreciated.

Dave, you have a very clean high quality image there, I agree it is a pity the tail is not more in focus but when these dragons are perched like that you have little alternative, I think even f8-f11 would not have been enough from that angle. I really like the rain drop that appears to be on the front leg. I think the colours and exposure are absolutely spot on.

Hi Dave. This image has a lot going for it - exposure, colors, sharpness within your DOF, and background are all first rate! I like the curved perch and the water drops are a plus. The dragonfly appears to be holding a water drop in its 2 front legs - cool! The soft abdomen has been noted, but it's a minor point for me. This is excellent work!

Hey Dave,
Yeah....even with the softness....this one works for all the reasons mentioned......very nicely done!

That is how dragons should be photographed. Lovely capture.

I was wondering if this is the same as the golden dragon that I just posted? Probably not as the eye and upper back colours are somewhat different.
