The first digital camera

If one searches the web for the first digital camera, one sees postings about it being made at Kodak in 1975, and was a mere 0.01 megapixel camera that took 32 seconds to write the image. However, that one was not first. In 1971 a 256 x 256 pixel digital camera was made (0.065 megapixel) and took less than 4 seconds to write the image. I remember using a Sony Mavica 640 x 480 px camera in the mid-1990s. It had a 3.5" floppy drive to record digital images. I still have a few of the images and they are really quite horrible!

The first digital camera I remember using was in the early '90's. It was actually a digital back produced by a company called Dicomed, who later earned their true "fame and fortune" by perfecting the digital film recorder used for computer graphics slide output... The Dicomed camera was a beast!
