Can anyone offer tips on when to go to Ding Darling to see more birds?
What I hear is:
1. Low tide is best (and "low low" tide is better).
2. Sunrise is best.

What about:
3. Temperature
4. Wind
5. Storms
6. Anything else besides random luck?

Thanks!

Artie Morris responded to me by email. They key thing he said was: "Get very lucky"
Regarding the issue of whether low tide was better he said "Sometimes"

He also pointed out that the refuge is closed at sunrise for much of the year. However, now (December) they open at 7 AM and that is when sunrise is.

Artie is right, Henry. Ding isn't what it used to be. Frankly, I haven't been there since 2008. It's a wonderful drive through the Park, but getting your hopes up as far as filling up your card with bird pictures, I wouldn't count on it.
