GULP!

It always amazes me how these Bohemian Waxwings can swallow berries that are seemingly way to big for them!! One of many that this individual did gulp down:bugeyed:.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 70% FF, magenta cast negated via "color balance" by adding a touch of green.

Great display of the gobbling behaviour, I agree, how do they do it! I like the little pops of color from the twigs, that match the berry.

I would be tempted to remove the bright twig on the right side of the frame.

Hi Dan, the head and gulping behaviour stands out so well in this, and just love the detail and colours in that area of focus. Im fine with the twig on the right, I would have removed the one intersecting the tail.

Thanks guys! I definitely had my eye on that branch during processing but ultimately found it OK there. The image would look nice without it too...

Jim, these guys have still been reported in the area, but I have not been out in a couple of weeks so I suspect this particular location may be stripped of most of its' fruits! Heading out this upcoming weekend so I'll soon find out:S3:
