Took this back in April of this year.
The BG is the Atlantic Ocean from the shores of South Carolina.

Seems a bit "crunchy" to me.
By that I mean a bit over-sharpened. However, I understand that just like spice with food, some people like more and some people like less.
I always like to err on the side of less sharpening.

Tim, great job of catching this fast little shorebird with a fast shutter speed. Nice background, well-balanced composition, and super colors on the subject. The coloration reminds me of a dunlin. Good light angle, and head angle. The feather detail on the wing and on the back really make this photo for me. The IQ on the bill and head does look slightly off. Perhaps a little too much USM, or perhaps the result of a major crop?

Hi Tim, excellent wing position, and I do like the detail throughout the Sanderling. Love the blue and greys of the ocean, and I too, feel the sharpnening is spot on. Well captured.

Would loved to have seen this 1024 wide. :w3

Not easy to pull off...looks great! That near wing looks fantastic. Great job with the techs, details, colours. I would prefer a looser composition though, and I'd perhaps look at toning down the highlights on the bill. Super nice overall...job well done.

Definitely not an easy shot! Love the pose, the eye contact and the bg. Very well done.

Congrats on getting this guy in flight. Great wing position, and looks appropriately sharp to me. Perhaps some evidence of a large crop, but a good catch of a fast bird. I could also see it a bit looser in the frame.

Very nice indeed Tim - the sanderling pops right out of the image. Sharp, lovely light, great flight pose and pleasing BG. The IQ is so good that it would easy tolerate a 1024 wide expansion.

The detail on the wing plumage looks great.

Marvellous image of this speedster. Great flight pose, eye level, and close(!).
Background is pretty darn nice in it's own right. I like the idea of toning down
the highlights on the bill. Really dig the incoming breeding plumage.

Boy you did well with this tricky fella - well done. I like the image very much, the sharpening looks good to me, the colours are spectacular, they don't appear to be this rich over here in UK, perhaps a little saturated ot a tad too much contrast?? Could be of course your light is different.
