Shot this guy in the spring in Florida...Sorry but I don't remember the name of the lake (could find out if anyone interested). Shot with my 1DMK4, 600mm with 2x convertor, camera was on the ground resting on my camera bag. ISO 800, f/8, 1/1000

this is lovely Nick.
great IQ and low POV.
Who doesn't love a redhead!
great look back HA.excellent DOF
nice still water and the striations in the water match the duck.
I wish for a bi warmer light but that is a minor nit,
Gail

Nick, a wonderful image.
I love the velvety texture of the head, I want to reach out and rub his head.
The way the brightness of the water transitions from dark to light enhances the presentation of the duck by minimizing the contrast between the duck and the water.
I like that the ripples in the water echo the colors of the ducks head and eye.
Very pleasing image, I wish I could just sit and watch him swim along.

A lovely composition Nick of this Red Head - nice pose with the head looking back. The rich tan streaks in the water make a nice addition to this image.

Nice photo at 1200mm.
Nice angle and pose.
I think a bit more contrast would look good.

Lovely over the shoulder look, but I find it looks just a little hazy, so agree with Dan regarding adding a little more contrast....nice looking subject and liking the water ripples too.

I agree that adding contrast would help. So would boosting the overall saturation. Consider darkening the pupil and applying and extra dose of saturation to the eye.

Thanks gang, I think it lost some contrast after compression. Here is a link to the version on my website, I think the contrast and eye are much better.

Beautiful image and the one on your website is even better. I just saw a DUCKumentary (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/an-original-duckumentary/full-episode/8068/) on ducks, and they featured the Red Head. I didn't know that the female lays her eggs on other duck species' nests!

Nice Image of a beautiful drake red head. Had a live one in my hands this morning. Took it with a falcon then released it. Great pose and HA. Not sure why this image has such a painterly quality to it. Was it under exposed and boosted up. Like the look .
