My Canon 5D3 offers me 6 "cases" of AI Servo AF Characteristics. I'm trying to determine which would be the most useful for birds in flight.

My first thought is that for many situations Case 2 ("Continue to track the subject, ignoring possible obstacles") would be the best in most cases.

Has anyone played much with these different "cases" and come to any firm conclusions about which cases work best in which situations when shooting birds in flight?

Thanks for any thoughts on this!
Henry

just edit any of those cases and set the AI-servo tracking sensitivity to slowest. The rest of the settings don't make a noticeable difference for flight IMO.

Henry, You got me to give it up. See here (http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/content.php) for my custom case for birds in flight.
