This breeding plumaged adult Ruddy Turnstone was photographed during this past spring migration on the shore of Lake Superior.
The bird is craning it's neck to see the other turnstone that it was travelling with. SonyA300, Sigma50/500, iso400, f9, cropped,
selective NR to the bg, USM. Comments and critiques welcome.
Regards,
Shawn Zierman.

The thumbnail made me laugh out loud. I've never seen one with a stretched out head like this, great capture! On capture, it would have been nice if you could have been a bit to the right, hence removing the rock in the bg. I say that, but I know that sometimes this is not possible. Either way, this is a wonderful shot. You captures a great expression

A very handsome Turnstone in its breeding plaumage Shawn enhanced by the warm lighting. Sharp, great HA and the complimentry blue water in the BG portrays the Turnstone beautifully.

I like the position of the bird, especially the head and the rear foot. Nice BG as well.

I've also never seen the neck so stretched but zi do like it and that rear foot as well. I like the colors as they compliment each other as well.

The patterns on the neck look so cool with it stretched out like that! Great techs, love the sweet light, and apt composition. I do wish that OOF rock was not there in the BG, but the pose trumps it.

Hi Shawn, although I dont live anywhere near the sea, I love these guys when I do get the chance to grab a few images of them - not to mention that they never keep still. I like the rich colours, tip toe pose, sharp, and Im fine with the BG rock - its far enough separated from the turnstone.

I like the light and details, good exposure. I also wish the OOF rock in the Bg was not there

Just love the light, IQ and the exposure. The pose is killer and so is the "perch". Just wish the oof rock bg wasn't there, but all in all, this is a terrific image.
