Congratulations Dean Ingwersen!

Helmeted Honeyeater portrait

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted anything - life has felt like a train-wreck lately! Anyway, this image is of the critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater, a subspecies of the Yellow-tufted Honeyeater. Taken after a release of captive-bred individuals (hence the band) into one of their remaining populations near Melbourne, Victoria.

Comments welcome.

Canon 20D, 500mm L IS, f/4, ISO 800, 1/100 sec, AV
PS CS - Very slight crop for composition, sh-h, levels, curves, sat, usm.

Dean,

Beautiful image of a bird I've never seen before. The image shows very little noise for a 20D at 800 ISO (if its anything like my 30D). Did you apply any noise reduction?

Congrats!

Hi all,

Wow...thanks for the honour. I completely missed this and only just found out I'd won the IOTW for this image...how embarrasing!!:o. Thanks for the great comments.

Cheers, Dean

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the congrats, much appreciated. No noise reduction used...it is pretty much full frame. From memory I only slightly sharpened the image, and then perhaps a small second round just on the bird. Thanks again.

Cheers, Dean
