This in-camera Art Vivid HDR image of a group of King Penguins roosting by a stream was created at Ample Bay Colony, Salisbury Plain, South Georgia with the tripod-mounted Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS EF USM AF lens and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital Camera. Central sensor/AI Servo Rear Focus AF and recompose.
When even the remotest possibility of doing some serious land-scape or bird-scape work with a short lens exists, I make sure to have a Wimberley P-5 Camera Body plate (https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=7) and my Giottos MH 1302-655 Ballhead (https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=59) in my vest. It takes less than two minutes to mount the plate on the camera body, spin off the Mongoose M3.6, and replace it with the tiny ballhead.
The trip was both wonderful and physically demanding. Do see a larger version of this image in my first blog post on the trip: Rat Eradication Auction (http://www.birdsasart-blog.com/2012/11/11/rat-eradication-auction/).
Don't be shy; all comments welcome.
