It has been very quiet in the landscapes forum lately so I thought I'd post another image from Dead Vlei in Nambia. This one without the bright blue sky and trying to capture a bit of the starkness.

Canon 7D
70-200 II @ 125mm
1/250
f8
ISO 100
HH, luminosity mask, levels, curves and selective color adjustments, selective dodging of the closest tree, Hougaard Malan actions and sharpened in CS5. This is full frame as composed in camera.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel, I think this is my favorite of the series. I like it's simplicity with the two tone color setting and the strong classical compositional elements. The diagonal of shrubs adds interest.
I've seen a lot of pictures of this place, but I keep liking them!

I've never heard of Dead Viel before, but I really like this simple composition and the bold colors.

Best of the series yet, by far. Love the strong comp, the telephoto compression and the feeling of starkness as you aptly put it.
:5
Print and hang.
