Here's another photo from our November 2011 trip to the Kgalagadi. I posted the 2 cubs earlier - here's mom. While they were being cubs, she was keeping a watchful eye on a herd of springbok further down-river. Her gaze didn't leave them for the better part of an hour. And then she caught one...

After taking this image I positioned myself better to have the early morning light straight on them - but I do like this side-lit one...:tinysmile_shy_t:

Good call on respositioning yourself Morkel but I agree with you that this is a keeper. The light on the chest area and posied stance make this stand out for me IMO.

Enjoy the preperation for your upcoming trip :5

Morkel - nice to see her alert pose. The definition in the shoulders shows that she could easily accelerate for the chase. The warm side lighting has given a nice effect.

Hi Morkel, I think you may have been just on the edge with the whites and strong light coming in, but handled nicely. I like the posture, but can't help feel she is 'cowering' a little (if that is the right phrase (?), in a threatened manor, with the ears folded back? Good techs and well framed.

Great pose. I like the direction of the light and the composition.

Nice feeling of something about to happen, gives it a good energy. Well handled.

Hi Morkel, am with you on the "side-slit" light; this looks sweet! It particularly is working great with the eye of the cheetah.

Thank you all for viewing and commenting.
Steve, there are always lions around so these cheetahs have to be careful too :S3:
