This female scaup (greater, I think) was coming in close on Sunday, while the males stayed well out of range. I liked the fall colors playing with her plumage.

D4 600vR 1.4 TC f/5.6 1/500s ISO 1000 Gitzo/Wimberly. I was as low as you can go at this location without shooting through the fence

20% crop for comp, selective sharpening

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Cheers

Randy

It is very nice the way the water colour matches the Duck's colours. Nice pose, HA and eye contact, Randy.

Magic colours in the water Randy that really compliments the tones in this female Scaup - very attractive image.

I like the "brushstrokes" in the water. I love the eye on these guys. Nice details, and the subtle head turn our way is no less than perfect.

Gorgeous image, the only suggestion I could make would be to get a little lower if possible provided this would retain those beautiful colours in the water.

Jonathan:

As I mentioned in the OP, I was as low as possible at that location, but agree, lower would have been better, although you might lose the brushstrokes effect.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

cheers

Hi Randy, good IQ here, and I like the detail and colours on the female. Sharp, good HA, love that eye, and of course, the texture of the water is special.

A real beauty Randy! I like the water texture, colours, sharpness, low angle, HA and composition.

Very nice shot. The beautiful water color complements the hen scaup perfect. Exposed well and lots of detail. Great job
