Female Harrier

Hello everyone I braved the cold yesterday to try my luck after 2 weeks of solid wet weather. I was able to get a bunch of harrier shots of a male my first and some good shots of a female, I like this one because she was looking right at me.

In Photoshop I added a bit of contrast, bumped the colors of the bird and fixed the noise then sharpened.


at this point I am not sure what to do to improve it so any feedback is welcome.

Hi Corey. I like the fanned tail feathers and the wing position. The habitat is also nice. I'd probably crop off the top of the frame. I see a bit of a magenta cast, and I'd like to see the entire bird (but especially the head a little sharper. What was your shutter speed?

the pose and the eye contact is great, I like the environment. The IQ is not the best however, looks like the critical focus was on the tail instead of the head.

1/640 was a little slow for BIF other than slow moving birds. I would have pushed the ISO to 1250 or 1600 and gone to a faster shutter speed; I'll take noisy and sharp over clean and soft any day. :S3:
