I see now that the crop is too tight ,and I'm not liking the perch too much ...the white of it is drawing my eye .

No expert, looks like winter plummage for a male Goldfinch.

I am going to take a stab and say a young Bananaquit. The eyeline and bill shape are right, as is the overall colouration.

This photo was created on 25 June 2012 ,in Cozumel ,Mx. It was the size of a Sparrow . I was leaning toward a Hammond's Flycatcher , But am still not sure .

See above option Clyde. The strongly decurved bill does not fit a flycatcher. Bananaquits are common on Caribbean Islands like Cozumel.

I agree with John. The bird is very young as you can see the soft pink gape at the base of the bill so there probably won't be an exact match in any book. The face pattern and bill shape look like they are moving towards what is expected on an adult.

Is it permissible to post a second photo in this thread ? I have a side view . Being a new Member ,I'm not completely sure of the rules in this particular part of the forum . I'm on my way to read them........

Yes. Others have done this before. Besides, anything that helps clarify an ID question has got to be good.

The white flash on the wing clinches it as a Bananaquit Coereba flaveola.
