Yes strange that Doug. I've never heard of announcing something like this 6 months ahead.

late is better than never but I agree. Come one! 6 months for a few lines of code? and why this couldn't be implemented at first place? Canon told us this was a hardware limitation at first, it seems like different departments of the company are disconnected from each other and don't communicate effectively.

I'd second that. This can't be so hard to do... The other 'major feature' in this firmware release is uncompressed video. The magic lantern hackers did not kill themselves to make this same feature work on this camera. We can only hope that Canon will use this as an opportunity to deliver way ahead of schedule ;-)
