This sub adult lion was lucky to escape the still kicking and dangerous hooves of this buffalo whilst receiving a crunching head massage! :Whoa!:

OMG this capture is riveting. First of all, it took me a few seconds to figure out what the heck was going on here. The lion actually looks as though he has been hit in the head with the way his eye looks. I like seeing the blood dripping down the buffalo's thigh.

I really like your choice of comp but I wonder 2 things. How much of a crop is this? What is running down part of the left-hand side of the frame?

An unusual point of view and certainly gruesome, but an interesting depiction to life (and death) in the bush.

Thanks for your comments, Marina & Hilary.

The crop is around 10% or so to take out a female standing/feeding on the LH edge.

Neat comp. The distorted eye gives a sense of the effort to get in there and take a bite while dodging those legs.

As raw as it gets Marc. Brilliant comp and wonderful techs.

Raw nature very well captured, Marc. :5
Very interesting POV and great execution (pardon the pun :w3) in this shot.
Lit up by spotlight I would presume?
Perhaps tone down some of the yellow on the lion - think the spotlight boosted it a bit too much?
