Common in many rural regions of Australia, this one coming in for a drink at a small pool on the edge of a river.

Canon 7D + 500 f4........f 5.6, 1/1250, ISO 500, -0.3 EV, hand held, processing = crop to vertical, selective sharpen and noise reduction to background and some smoothing of brighter parts in background

Very nice Phil. I love the colors. Although the perch is not extra ordinary, its natural (Looks natural) so I like that.

The plumage itself looks a little bit soft and needs a little more contrast IMO. brightening the pupil selectively will really add a lot to this image. Crop is too close towards the top.

Phil, I agree with Amol about adding a bit of contrast to the feathers. Nice clean bg and perch. I like it!

Beautiful bird and a nice capture. BG and comp are great. Yes on a washed out look to the breast area. Some contrast and saturation boost I think will fix it. Well done

This bird has such beautiful plumage and colours that it's a pity he isn't fully lit by the sunshine all the way to bellow the belly! Good vertical comp (good call on the crop), and the BG looks good... you could reduce the impact of the brighter streak touching the bird's neck though (burn tool, or low opacity clone tool)
