Not a species I often get out in the open, let alone running around on a mudflat. This bird along with three others were scampering around on a mudflat in a saltmarsh where they breed, feeding on insects in the mud.

You did a good job getting nice and low here, Ryan. Had you gotten even a little lower, you would have been able to place the bird's head in front of all the green which may have been even better. You did a good job on your composition here. Good exposure and IQ but you may wish to pull back on the sharpening just a tad. You can see that the bird's feathers are looking a little crispy. Nice job on including the environment and it's amazing how well the bird is camouflaged in there.

Great to see one in the open!
Agree with Marina's excellent critique and would only add that I think there might be a slight green cast, although I have never gotten such a great look at this species so I could be wrong.
Try adding 5 points of magenta in a color balance adjustment and see what you think.

Great low angle and perspective on this great species. The "twigs" scattered along the ground are distracting but they are part of this habitat. I'd have loved a better HA here. Techs perfect, nice details.
