This is one of my favorite Barred Owl pictures from last season. I could not have asked for better light, and the Barred Owl was enjoying the sunset as much as I.

Canon 1D3, Canon 500L
F8, 1/2500sec, ISO 400, manual mode
Feisol tripod, Mongoose Head

C & C always welcomed and much appreciated.

You captured some great facial expression on this one, and the light quality is special and well handled
in regards to exposure. A consideration would be to darken the brighter spot in the upper right hand
part of the frame...Did I mention how special the light quality is...!

Marina,

The light is beautiful, love the open beak. This is the way I visualize an owl, with a dark background because it should be dark and the light of the moon shining on it - or the last bit of sunlight in this case. Great photo.

Very nice shot. The light is awesome and the owl is light beautifully from it. Open beak, great detail, nice catch light and a dark BG make for a real keeper. Good Work

Hi Marina, I like the alert pose and open beak, and I do like how the light is cast mainly on the owl and perch. I also like how he stands out against the darker BG, and if anything, I would just blend in the two spots on either side of him just above the perch.

Excellent Marina, also like the way the light falls on the owl and having a dark BG works very nicely. I would also blend in the bright spots TFS.

The light's sublime as is the pose and perch. Was it calling or yawning?

Hi Marina,
This is really good.
The light is beautiful. Love the black BG.
I miss seeing the owls right eye and wish you had moved a couple of feet to the left but you probably couldn't.
I played with cropping most of the bottom branch out and it makes it less bottom heavy.
A keeper for sure and one to print,
Gail

Just love that beautiful, last, golden light that acts like a spotlight. The open beak really adds interest and I really like that double perch. Just a stunning portrait overall.

Stuning image, the light and the moment that night falls has been captured wonderfully. The beak open brings it to another level.I can see this as a fast selling greetings card.
