The rusty blackbird has been in a population decline for some time, though the reason(s) are unclear.
I always look forward to the few opportunities that I get with this species during fall migration. This
image was made this morning. The perch is set up. Food was used as an attractant.
Canon 7d, Sigma50/500os, iso400, f9, 1/320, reduced the yellow saturation in PP, cropped, USM.
Comments and critiques welcome.
Regards,
Shawn Zierman.

Yes, it is a rare bird. You are lucky that one came to your setup, Shawn. Nice perch, pose and complimentary background.

A good looking bird, nice warm light and eye contact. BG is also good. I would try to crop 3:2 for this one. I wish perch was smaller.

Good pose, great light with good head angle and BG, Perch isn't bad either. Nice iridescence. some of the blacks are blocked and would be nice to see details on those areas.

Hi Shawn, these poses always create such easy comps - lookback pose looking into space. We also get to see more of your BG. Good sharpness for such a slow ss, and I like what we can see of the perch.
