taken this afternoon at boynton beach. winds shifted and action was terrible:(

D300, Sigma 50-500 at 165mm, f/9, 1/1250s, 0EV, ISO 400, handheld

Beautiful image, the composition looks good and the head turn is just right. I'm wonderng if the general face area could be darkened just a bit? The blue water BG is perfect.

Image looks good the pose is nice and the bird is great. Love the blonde eye brows.

Agree with Daniel about the head, it could use more detail and darkening.

There's nothing better than deep blue water to bring out beautiful colors of a pelican. I really like the curves in this one as well. I'd try going a bit darker as suggested to see if you could extract a bit more detail. I'm wondering if maybe a bit less sharpening....to give it a more smooth feel. I always go back and forth with....more USM....less USM. It might be worth a look if you decide to redo with the darkening.

Great advise above, Harold. I will add to take a bit off the left, exactly to where th shoulder begins to splope down.
Compo will be much easier on the eyes :)
