Since I know that there are almost as many BPN'ers as Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese at The Bosque in the fall/winter, I'm just curious who will be there the week of Nov. 11? I'm driving out on the 13th (to arrive late afternoon) and will be there through the 18th.

I don't get there till later in the month. Sorry, it would have been nice to meet in person.

Thanks for the answer, Denise. Maybe next year! Last year the same week, there were several BPN'ers about (Kerry Perkins, Jim Neiger, Artie, Doug Brown to name a few that come to mind). I would have actually preferred to go in early December, but couldn't get that time off from work.

Many sandhill cranes have been reported over Colorado on their way south to New Mexico, so some are getting close to Bosque.

Thanks, Roger! They all bought their tickets to the Festival of the Cranes :)

I'll be out there Nov 29 - Dec 1. Looks like that's going to be just after the full moon.

So how is it going for you Ian? Any tips for someone who will be there near the end of the month?

So, what are conditions at Bosque? I hear rumours of drought and not much water in the ponds, but can't find any recent info.

Sorry ... missed the last couple of posts. Unfortunately, my waterfront house on the New Jersey shore was hit by Hurricane Sandy and I had to go out to New Jersey in November instead of New Mexico. I thought I would get a chance to dash down to another favorite place, the EB Forsythe NWR, while I was out there, but it was temporarily closed due to significant storm damage. I am going to The Bosque, however, the second week in January . I just ordered some hand warmers from Campmor.
