This screaming Common Tern was photographed on the recently concluded Nickerson Beach/JBWR IPT with Canon 500mm f/4L IS II, the 2X III TC, and the EOS-1D Mark IV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering + about 1 stop: 1/640 sec. at f/11 in Manual mode.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I like the screaming pose, DOF, sharpness and exposure. I would prefer a natural perch but you have to take them where they land. Well done Arthur.

Love the white feather detail here and the open mouth. Nice stretched out wing.

Perfect exposure and detail and I too like the screaming pose. A little more head on so you can see more of the other wing would be the only improvement I could see.

I was seated. This was the best of about 12 frames.

The all around pose is perfect, as is the exposure and sharpness. The soft light is great. Nothing you can do about the perch, at least it's rusted.

Perfect exposure, and I love all the details, the raised wings, calling pose and the glimpse of the tongue. It's nice to see the tern perched on a non-natural perch.

Hi Artie, well timed to capture both the raised wings and open beak. Both sharpness and exposure spot on, and love how the orange of the beak and legs pop from the image.

Hi Artie, lovely image, I like the outspread wings, soft colors and the birds open beak. It also pin sharp, with lots of detail. The perch isn't the best however it's the excellent pose that make it for me.

Nicely exposed (as I would expect), and great open beak pose. Nice detail in the near wing. Not as crazy about the far wing position, but overall a very handsome shot, perch and all.

Excellent pose, fully animated and a great forewing stretch.
Whites look sweet. I like the way the foot shows clutching
the rusted perch. Darn nice catchlight too.

Lots of great comment above, I do like the pose, light and clean image overall but I do not like the perch even though it is a rusted one.
