Here is one last image of this beautiful specimen before I close the chapter on this species for this year (except in the unlikely event of another encounter!). In this frame I liked how the grasses look like green flames surrounding the bird :-) Hard to tell from this small size, but that is a tasty morsel hanging on the bill...

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/7.1, ISO 400 (settings histogram checked), natural light, handheld, cropped for comp (75% FF), afew imperfections on the ground cloned and/or patched out.

Wow! Another stunner! Do you 'enhance' the blurred background, or is that how oof it usually it. I love the strips of green throughout the series that you've posted. great stuff!

Another beauty, Daniel. I love the raised-foot pose and the dreamy fg/bg. Nice PP work to pull the bird out of the bushes. I had a nice look at one of these guys the other day, but he insisted on staying well within an area roped off for a protected shorebird breeding colony, and refused to come close enough to photograph. They are indeed lovely birds.

Stunning bird and capture, Daniel. Love the details you acquired here, the leg up and all the green really works.

Thanks guys!

Miguel, I do not enhnace the blurred BG...it is the combined result of the ultra low angle, distant BG, and wide-ish aperture.

Very Nice Shot. Havent been around for a few weeks. Looked back at the others from this series and they all are great. This species has a very smooth velvety look to the head. Great angle, BG and techs as usual. Good Job!!

This one is a 10 of 10 in my book. Love the foreground to background blur.
"wide-ish aperture" :bg3: I like that one!

Hi Dan, its difficult to choose a winner from your series, as each one has been presented differently. In this, love the raised foot, low angle and soft light, and love the splash of colour on the OOF BG. I would maybe take a slither off the bottom.
