Male Maghreb Wheatear near Ouarzazate, Morocco. A typical stony desert species.

Canon 1D MkIV, Canon 800 f/5.6 +1.4x; 1/2000, f/8.0, ISO 400.

Beautiful landing pose, well exposed and composed. I love the wing spread, perch and desert bg. I might wish to see the eyes a little better, but if I were landing in that prickly stuff I'd be looking down too.

I would like to see more of the eyes but this is a great landing shot. Nice BG.

I really like the full out incoming pose as well as prickly perch and lovely bg. Agree that the eyes would add to an already lovely photo.

Very nice pose with the exception of the lack of eye contact. Cool perch and a nice BG make for an overall solid image.

I like the image and am not very much concerned with the lack of eye contact or even a good view of the eyes. As per the comment on the thorns by Bill Dix :). Nice underwing detail in spite of the seemingly harsh light. Nice BKGR too.

Lovely landing pose with a great extension on the wings. Good exposure and nice smooth BG. For me the bird looking down is normal for this landing pose.

Thank you all. Bill, :S3: on your comment; landing on those needs concentration!

Excellent landing pose & feather details Ignacio. Lovely BG. It's very similar to our Mourning Wheater we can see in the south of IRAN. Thanks for sharing

Wow, stunning capture. The timing was just right as I really like the outstretched wings. Also love the angle of the head with respect to the wings.

Thanks Mohsen; actually, this species was recently split from the widespread Mourning Wheatear, mostly on the basis that the female is totally different.

Awesome image! The composition looks perfect to me. A thing not mentioned....
I think the bird's beautiful contrasting black and white head pattern, make the
"no eye contact" thing work much better here, than say if the bird's head was a
more uniform color...

A lovely bird and landing pose, I don't bother with eye contact in this one since it makes sense to me that the bird is focused on the perch. Nice BG and IQ.

Great landing pose with really nice wing detail. I do wish for just a twinkle of eye but the great pose makes up for it for me
