Usually you see these birds with their eyes nearly closed so I was happy to catch him in this wide eyed stare for a change (nothing was done to provoke him to open them). No question that he is too tightly framed but I absolutely couldn't back up any further.

This is an incredibly difficult bird to photograph so well done. Love the stare!
I don't mind the tight comp but wish the light wasn't so bright.I would definitely tone down the white highlights in the BG by either dodging or cloning in some greenery,

BG is bright but the bird looks really good and sharp. Love those eyes.

A very neat looking bird and glad you got it with eyes open. Tight framing looks fine for me. I like how tail and perch match colors, texture and tones so well.

Seeing for the first time,looks like the bird called as Frogmouth in India.Excellent image in habitat.

Good idea, thanks. I will try toning down the brightness of the back ground.
