Hi all. Harry and I went to Viera Wetlands yesterday and thanks to Walter found the new red-bellied woodpecker nest. It is very convenient next to the road and so cannot wait for the babies to pop their heads out. Taken with the D300 , Nikon 500mm lens with 1.4TC, iso 320

Very nicely done. I like the COMP especially. And the BKGR. The bill is a bit lost in the BKGR. If the light is right (or very soft or cloudy) you could move to your right to avoid that.

Sure is a beauty Nancy. Saw the new hole in the tree but guess the parents weren't in while I was there.

The nest is located just past the last turn going back out to the exit, would call it just past the SE corner. It is in a palm with no greens just about 6 ft into the water past the edge.

Thanks all for the nice comments. I wanted to get the hole and the bird showing well with the digging material in his mouth, but it does make the beak less obvious. I will post another tomorrow with him out from the tree.
