Spent some time in Wales last week doing some bird photography. I managed to lose the family for an hour whilst I photographed these wonderful birds. :S3:
I processed this image in DPP and photoshop Elements 10. I really find the latest DPP excellent for processing RAW images and find it brings out more detail. It may be just me, but I'm happy with my current workflow. Any comments always appreciated.

Hope you like it. 7D, 100-400mm, f8, ISO 200, 1/640 SS, hand held +2/3 EV.

Nice low angle, pose and eye contact. You did well with the slightly harsh light.

Good pose, and low angle in the mud. Only suggestion would be to find him again in less harsh light. (And possibly, a little more NR on the bg, and removal of the darkest bg blob in the ULC.)

Striking pattern, nice pose, HA and eye contact. Love the low shooting angle.

Hi Simon, good low angled pose, and I like the various colours on this fellow. Yes to some NR on the BG.

Thanks for all the feedback and advice. I'll take a look at some nr on the background, plus a bit of spot removal.

Christopher, it was surprisingly sunny in south Wales.

Good low angle, and I like the wet mud...except I'm not super fond of the larger clump directly underneath the bill A nice sprinkling of greens too. Harsh light was exposed best you could, you made the best of your hour off to photograph!!

Liking the wet mud and the clumps of mud in this. It really adds to the environment. I find one of the darker spots in the BG mor distracting. You did well exposing for the harsh light and you have a nice low angle and good pose here.
