This great crested grebe brings a fat fish home. :Whoa!:

Great shot. Full of detail and love the BG . The ripples at the chest are nice. The red fins on the fish make it pop.. Nice Job....

Frank:

I think great crested grebes are very photogenic, got to love the red eye. Fish a plus, sharp, well exposed. Head is away a bit, and am wonder about some other possible cropping options, since you have lots of canvas to work with.

THer ripples in front are great, would like to see some more.

Cheers

WOW! This is very impressive! Excellent sharpness and detail, great exposure control, low angle and what an awesome catch! Not crazy about the way the body and ripples are cut at the bottom.

Very nice catch for you and the grebe. Good light and bg. Only wish would be for a little head turn.

Hi Frank, with your new lens, you are certainly going to capture some lovely close ups like this. Love the eye, detail, colours and detail, and thats a fair size fish. Pity the HA is slightly off, and agree some more room at the bottom will work.

Very cool!! I appreciate the close crop to show details (which are excellent), but I would love to see more room especially at bottom (and a bit at sides to retain the ratio). Mother Nature always makes it so the prey's face is facing away!!

Spot on exposure and super details and colors. Getting it with the catch is a huge plus. I am okay with the HA. However, I would consider crops which would allow for more at the bottom.
