The sun had already left my subject, but reflected off some distant trees, some green, some dead pines which reflected red. I loved the mood, but had to work hard given the low light.

This is a loverly image. I love the vegetation and the soft light. This is fairly early for a juvie of this species; I have never seen on in the region that had not started to molt so I consider this an amazing image for many reasons. Where?

ps: Love the wash of color at the top of the frame. I would lose the four little thingies behind the bird if it were mine. If you twisted my arm I would wish for a smidge more head turn.

Beautiful capture!! The light is so soft and subtle. Exposure and IQ are spot on. The vegetation and glassy water make this a moving scene. I too would remove the green blobs behind the bird. Very Nice.. David

Wow Grace,
This is so pretty. Very calming and tranquil and peaceful.
I love the little "buttercup" grasses-makes image very artistic.
I have never seen this bird IRL so I went to my books and learned something so thanks for that!

Wow Grace, very sweet image. It has almost a painted feeling, the soft colors in the background really help the bird stand out and the grasses to the right frame the bird so nicely. Well done again my friend

Very nice Grace. The vegetation on the right, the BG & FG & the over all simplicity with the pastel colors all give it a very pleasing oriental art feel that I find quite unique. TFS.

Grace, this is just gorgeous! I love the grasses, the soft light, the bg. And to me the head turn and thingees behind the bird are fine. Sweet image.

Very nice and very artistic. The soft light and grass is really nice.
I might run a bit more NR on the dark area in the BG.

Grace,

What I like best about this is the muted colours and totally natural look.

Beautiful image...nice low angle, BG and IQ...Love the habitat and it would have been perfect if there was slightly better HA as mentioned by Artie earlier.
