Although not exceedingly uncommon in Massachusetts, these guys can be a serious pain to get close to, not to mention properly expose. This bird was photographed at dawn. This past May, I was fortunate enough to be part of a team censusing a restricted-access heronry on tiny offshore island owned by Massachusetts Audubon. We counted the nests of Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, Little Blue Herons (Massachusetts' only breeding population), and Glossy Ibis. Being at the colony offered an uncommon opportunity (for Massachusetts that is) at getting up close and personal with several species of wading birds.

Nice curled Posture of the Ibis. True to its Name the Glossy feathers on the wings Shine. But I feel the IQ to be a bit soft.Is it a huge Crop fro the original?

Ryan:

Neat story, nice that you were able to tote along your gear.

THe light really helped bring out the colors, often not well captured.

I like the comp.

Yes, IQ a bit soft.

Cheers

You have a very nice wing position and have shown the iridescence very well.
Agree that image is a bit soft,
Gail

Sounds like you had a great time! You got the colours nicely here, and a good wings-down position. There is an odd shadow-like mudge at the tip of the bill that needs attention.
