Markus,

Well composed.

I like the flow of the water in the image and how you framed the pool below - just the right amount and it extends the full width of the bottom edge.

I did some reposting processes discussed below.

Some of this is covered in my tutorials at the following:

Go to http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20434 to see my Image Contrast and Tonal Range Tweaks, Part 1.

Go to http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?p=161168 to see my Image Contrast and Tonal Range Tweaks, Part 2.

1) Used a curves adjustment to lighten image.

2) Used a levels adjustment to set a white in the water to lower the blown areas and whiten the water.

3) Used Selective Color adjustment and removed 50% of colors from the white channel. This whitens the water.

4) Did some Local Contrast Enhancement using USM on a BG copy.

Of course all this on the RAW image will result in better IQ. Re-process the RAW with an eye on not letting the white clip.

I can't say I am happy with the results as the contrast is a bit too low now but starting from the RAW will be much better.

What a beautiful serene landscape. It gives a nice feel for the forest environment. It would be interesting to see Robert's suggestions made on the raw file as I feel that it has lost some depth in the repost which may be down to working on the small jpg.

A distinct "contrast" between the OP and the RP. I think both look good but for entirely different reasons which I cannot put my finger on.

All in all I think I prefer the darker tones on the river banks in the OP as this is what I imagine it should look like given the surrounding forest shade.

I cannot make my mind up about the water.

I really didn't care for both versions and thought I would fool with it. Did some color correction, burned and dodged,shad/highlights and a contrast adj...

Dave,

Your re-post is remarkable, almost a totally different world, reminds me of Gage Taylor my favourite artist from the 60's

Dave,

This is probably the best site, unfortunately not enough of his images

If you find this type of thing to your liking you might like to see if you can find this book
