Living on retirement checks and extremely interested in getting a 800mm capability for my nature photography I am exited about the upcoming Nikon 800mm but don't see how I could get one if the price is above $12K. The Sigmas look doable but I would like to see an upgrade on the 300-800mm and hope for stabilization and maybe focus limiting. Have there been any runors about any kind of upgrade from either of the Sigma 800's? It seems they have a good opportunity right now if the Nikon 800 comes in at well past $10K to get a bigger share of the market. I have a 600VR and 1.4, should I just be happy with this combination?
Thanks Randy

You should be happy :S3:
If you already have 600vr and 1,4 - I would guess you donīt have so much to gain. But what do I know. I havenīt tried the 800. You already have lotīs of reach. You get extra "reach" if you go dx or D800. You can go TC-20E III - that will get you acceptable IQ. But best way to get your subject in the frame and best IQ is of course to get a little bit closer, crawling on the ground, using a blind etc. If I were you, I would use the money to go traveling instead, to get to those dream subjects.
Best regards, Gregor
(I have 600vr, tc-14II, tc-2III and D3, D800. Just sold D300.)
