Brown bear in the whirlpool Brook's Falls

FYI- the out of camera color is the best I have ever seen.

1DX, 70-300L
1/40 @ f/16, ISO 100
Post-production- 15in MBP, LR4, CS6, NIK
Nik Color Effex 4 Tonal Contrast Filter brought out all the detail in the water.

See you where there is light, or at the computer,

Chas,

This is quite remarkable quality, the only word I can think of is "clean". Having looked at the review by Andy Rouse it would appear that Canon have a real winner here ( mine comes next week)

As to the content of the image itself both the bear and the water are splendid, great use of shutter speed to get the water movement.:cheers::cheers:

very fine indeed. Like Ken, love the water movement. see you are liking the camera very much and I see you have the 70-300L as well. with all the early naysayers about the 1dx, I am seeing some very positive reviews from folks like you that I trust. Mine will be here in the morning...

Chas - Great water, colors and comp. Were the salmon jumping while you were there?

Rachel,

Yes, the salmon started jumping up the falls on the 2nd day. A huge wave of fish went up yesterday. Hopefully we will have them again on the 27/28th with the 2nd session.

Great to hear your thoughts on that camera. Sounds like Canon has finally made the big jump forward. Love the textures and the surrounding water and textures are great!

A real cracker Chas. Love the blurry water and the content look of the bear - almost as if he was sitting in a jacuzzi!

That's great. I hope they continue to jump and you get some catch shots.

Chas, I believe you were shooting right next to me, I looked over and seen the new X and the 70-300, I was able to try one out that day, focus seemed quick and accurate, just what I wanted to see... Oh lord there goes the bank account again :2eyes2:

Great water play, and colors look tops.
