Took a Sunday drive today about 140 klms east of Adelaide to an arid region in the dense Mallee scrub. Birding was quiet sadly, and constant dull Winter skies and light. Came across a pair of Mulga parrots and managed to sneak up to about 40 feet away, but would of liked closer and brighter natural light to bring out the colors better in this species. A smallish Parrot about the size of a starling, but with a longer tail, and usually seen in flocks rather than a pair, generally very hard to approach.

Canon 7D + 500 f4 + 1.4 x TC.....700mm, 1/320, f6.3, ISO 500, fill flash used, hand held shot

Hi Phil, I like you angle of capture here, together with the Parrot's pose- shows off most of his colours. I would try add a bit of contrast to the image.

Thanks Stuart, I think a bit more contrast is a good idea

Phil - the pose and angle of capture really allow us to see all the colors. Nice job!
