Jim, nice use of DOF for an interesting overall effect! I find the owl too far right in the frame and would take some off of the left (possibly add a little on the right too). The bright spots in the BG near the owl are a little distracting too. Lastly the horizon is crooked.

I often like NON othodox things! similar images allows us to see an animal in his own environment. But more satusation details sharpening. I like to read the others comments!

Jim,

Way too far on the right. I would also clone out the flowers behind the owl. The FB greater in the frame taking away from your main subject. This one is not working for me.

Keep them coming!

I like it Jim, I would like to see the whole plant to the right though. Was it on a slope or is that the horizon? Wish the birds head was pointed slightly more to the open space.

I like it Jim - because it is different. It would work even better if the owl's head was pointed a little more to the left, as Robert noted above.

I like the idea but it does need the plant on the right...

I like it. Different, but it works for me.

Like the concept Jim, but without something on the right to help anchor that part of the image, it suffers from an imbalance. Great that you've got a direct stare from the grumpy little guy.

i like it as is. i think the flower to the right adds. it's the oof white area just left of the head that i am undecided on.

Thanks everyone.
I'd have responded sooner, but we spent the day at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg yesterday :D

If I could change one thing, I would move the owl about 1/2 the width of his body to the viewer's left.

The plant on the right would be great to have in the frame completely, but there was one of those ugly man-made perches just at the edge of the frame and the plant was pretty much at the base of it.

The horizon is actually sloped, you can tell that if I "leveled" it, the owl would be leaning precariously to the viewer's right.

I've got tons more of this guy and his neighbors, so stay tuned.

Thanks again,
Jim
