As requested following my last full frontal, here is a profile shot, which I hope you will like.

Taken from a small boat on the papyrus swamps at the southern end of Lake Albert, Uganda.

EOS 1D MkIV

500mm F4 hand-held

F6.3, ISO 800, 1/1000

It is of course a SHOEBILL!

This bird will never win any beauty contests, but it's an image worthy of a prize. Lovely portrait with plenty of detail and character

Another creature that I never knew existed until I saw your images of it. I like the detail, the crest, & that beak is awesome. What is their diet that requires such a large beak? Or, is the beak needed for another purpose? e.g. defense?

Super portrait with great detail. Guess I would have to say it is a better view of the bird than your first but certainly not as unique. I am still so jealous.
