From a couple of weeks ago, this Spotted Sandpiper was oblivious to me hiding in the reeds. As is the case with low angles and pebble habitat, the one sharp "keeper" of the series has hidden feet (the frames previous and after had at least one foot visible, but had subject motion blur to the head due to low SS)...such is Murphy's Law:S3:

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/100s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, a few of the pebbles darkened via burn tool.

Love the soft light, colours, DOF and details here Daniel!
You really do make that 7D/100-400 combo sing like I never could...:eek3:

I like the different colors in this image, the bird is well exposed and sharp as usual.

Daniel:

Very nice, good angle, sharp, well exposed, like the subtle play of colours in the stones.

I might try a version with stones in the RLC burned a bit more to match the luminosity of the stones on the left side.

Cheers

I echo all the previous comments. Very nice, as always. I would try a little less foreground, which might entail you needing to crop overall a little bit as to not to have the bird too low in the frame.

I love the rocks, Daniel, comp is perfect for me, the stone on the RHS echos the bird profile.
Really good for 1/100 ss!

Excellent image! The only thing that weakens it for me is the "doctored" eye. As far as I know the eye is much darker in reality.

Beautiful image. I love the pastel colors of the pebbles, and the bird's angle is terrific. Great low POV - as you say, losing the feet is one of the pitfalls of a low angle; but I like the comp just as presented.

excellent image Dan, love the pose and details. I hear you about Murphy's law it happens to me all the time. The best frame is always the soft one ;)

I agree with Ofer regarding the eye, I would not touch it in RAW.
