Thanks for the comments.
John, here is the original, full frame FX mode, no PP, converted to jpeg.
I could have cropped it even tighter.

The image held up quite well for the big crop. Great perch, BG, colours, chosen crop (although you could recompse a tad looser too). Good call filling in the light spot in the BG behind the subject's head.

Very nice Dan! Like the pose, comp, perch and BG. Sharpness and exposure look good as well. Held up very nicely from the crop. You are putting that D800 to good use! TFS!

Like the bird, the HA, the smooth BG and the perch,

Thanks for showing the original. It is always so informative to see the before and after.

Excellent IQ, details and exposure.
I couldn't tell it was such a big crop. The D800 seems like a great body.
The greens are gorgeous. I've got to make it to Oregon.

Now you are just making all Canon users jealous :-)

awesome details and perch. Excellent feel here. Multiple cropping options....I'd have done the same as you have.

Hi Dan, love the pose here, and you have brought out the colours very well. Good placement of the grosbeak, and I do like the perch. The crop has held up very well. Great work.
